How worried should one be about the way our military deals with the people in Iraq? And how these activities can impact the next presidential election?
Lately, when New York Times disclosed the news, "The Marine Corps said Wednesday that it had formally reprimanded a two-star general and two colonels for their failure to thoroughly investigate why a group of enlisted men killed 24 Iraqis, including several women and children, in Haditha nearly two years ago", everyone finally realized how the US troops are behaving there. We are supposed to fight against terrorism there instead of behaving in such a manner.
The ‘Abu Ghraib prison scandal’ reminds us of another shocking event. President Bush and the Defense Department must take some initiatives in terms of making anyone answerable. We can just hope that they will do that pretty fast. The sooner they do, the better it is.
Can Democrats blame that these examples of abuse are occurring in Iraq due to the actions of a few members of US military? Well, they perhaps cannot be blamed. All they can say is that American military is doing its job very sincerely in Iraq.
The US politicians, however, do not say anything on such issues but at times, Haditha and Abu Ghraib issues are more than enough to reveal how US troops are doing in Iraq.
Our troops are sent with a special motive in Iraq, and every member of our military must not forget that. There is only one reason, and that is our resolution to fight against terrorism.
